Spinal Stenosis Explanation

There are many things which are discussed under the spinal stenosis explanation that causes back pain. There are numerous causes of spinal stenosis. Some of these causes are very hard to be able to find pain relief from. The medical treatment that are necessary to help with these causes are also difficult because of the spine relationship

The first cause is Osteoarthritis. Osteo arthritis is one of the types of arthritis. The cartilage of the bone joints are damaged in the Osteoarthritis. The bones and the spine get badly affected because of the damaged cartilage. Osteoarthritis is the main cause of the narrowing of the spinal cord which is called spinal stenosis.

Osteophytes is another cause

The second cause is Osteophytes. Osteophytes can be also called spurs. In this type of condition bones get enlarged. These enlarged bones exert strain on the spinal cord very bad. Osteophyte happens gradually as the age increases. So this type of condition is seen quite often in the elderly. Osteophyte is one of the main reasons because it badly affects the spinal canal and cord.

Inflammatory Spondyloarthritis is one of the spinal stenosis explanations. Inflammatory spondyloarthritis is a condition where an affected part gets into inflammation. This can be a very severe inflammation and sometimes it can go out of control. Inflammation affects joints, spine and many other areas. Other side effects of this problem are stiffness, numbness, senselessness and many others.

Tumors can also cause the problem

Spinal tumor is among some of the other causes. Spinal tumor is the extra growth which can hamper many parts of the body especially from neck to spinal canal. Inflammation plays the main role in the growth of the spinal tumor or it can be one of the reasons also. Spinal tumor affects the framework of vertebral which can lead to many severe problems. Spinal tumor exerts extra strain on the spinal canal and cord areas.

Trauma is a leading cause

Trauma can be one of the other reasons. Trauma can be caused because of many reasons like mental shock, injury, tension, accidents and by many other things. The trauma can also cause a herniated discs, which can also put pressure on the spinal cord. A trauma can harm the spinal cord and canal. Dislocation of spine or the spinal burst can be the main reason of the fragments of the bones which may narrow the spinal cord.

Surgeries which are done in the past are also one of the spinal stenosis explanations. It may happen that a tissue which surrounds the cut may swell and this increases the pressure on the spinal canal, cord and the nerves. This increased pressure on the spinal cord may results into spinal stenosis.

An extremely serious disease can be the culprit

Paget's disease is one of the worst diseases and also one of the spinal stenosis explanations. In this disease a patients gets totally deformed and the bones of the body gets enlarged. Patients get into very chronic conditions because of the constant formation and break down of the bone and especially near the spine area.

Sometimes the spinal bones break, which further leads to patient in a severe condition. As a result of the breakdown of the bones the blood supply to the nerves gets blocked. So, Paget's disease is one of the major causes of the spinal stenosis.
